From surf to snow
in minutes.
The contrast of
Mount Taranaki - Egmont National Park - an abundance of lakes
and rivers, breathtaking coastline and acres of virgin native
bush makes the Taranaki region unique to New Zealand.
The surf rolls
in from the Tasman Sea from three points of the compass creating
some of the best surf in New Zealand, becoming surfers, wind
surfers, wave riders and boogie boarders from around the globe.
The scores of
lakes and rivers add to the water playground activities with dam
dropping, jet boating, white water rafting and canoeing,
Mount
Egmont/Taranaki dominates the region standing 2518 meters above
sea level. A network of some 140km of walkways/tracks huts
challenge trampers mountaineers and climbers to the limit.
One of the most accessible mountains in New Zealand, with access
and exit points located at road and picnic spots.
Helicopter
tours scan the mountain and surrounding areas. Other forms
of transport to get around Taranaki include mountain bilking,
horse trekking and motor cycling.
The ski fields
are situated 1140 meters up Mount Taranaki at the Plateau,
catering for beginners - intermediate and advanced. |
